A New Series Under Way: Can You See Me Now?

Every new body of work starts with a question — and this one began with a conversation.
Over the summer, I was talking with Ajay Kurian, an artist, writer, and mentor I first met after a panel discussion a few years ago in Alphabet City. We were talking about why I paint certain things and what makes them relevant. His questions lingered — and eventually, they cracked something open.
I realized that since moving back to my small hometown years ago, I’ve often felt that the way people see me isn’t how I see myself. Somewhere along the way, the real me — the artist, the seeker, the whole human — became somewhat unseen.
That realization became the heartbeat of my new series, “Can You See Me Now.”
In this work, I’m beginning to merge my abstract expressionism with figurative elements — specifically, the female form (myself), alongside candid journal entries that reveal what it feels like to be unseen, misread, or invisible.
This series is about reclamation — bringing the self fully into view.
Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing progress images, reflections, and behind-the-scenes moments as the work evolves.

Coming February 2026: Solo Exhibition at GoggleWorks

I’m thrilled to share that my next solo show —
“Stephanie Rado Taormina: Past & Present (2007–2026)”
will open at The Cohen Gallery East Wing at GoggleWorks
on February 6, 2026.
This exhibition will bring together large-scale works spanning nearly two decades — from my earliest explorations in abstraction to some of the new figurative pieces from Can You See Me Now.
It’s a full-circle moment — a chance to see the evolution of my creative language, from past to present.

Next Workshop: Exploring Style in Abstract Art

Our final workshop of the fall series is coming up soon —
Exploring Style in Abstract Art.
This session is all about discovering what kind of abstraction speaks to you. There are so many ways to express emotion and energy through abstraction — and in this class, we’ll play, experiment, and explore them all.
You’ll get to try different techniques, find what resonates most, and create work that feels authentically yours. After all — there are no rules in abstract art, only ways to express how you see the world.
Join the Virtual or In-Person Workshop here.
Date: 11/02/2025
2–2.5 hours of creative exploration • $80 virtual | $200 in-person

💛 Final Days: Small Art Sale Ends October 31st

There’s still time to grab something special before the month ends!
The Small Art Sale is the perfect way to help someone you love start collecting art — or to bring a piece of my work into your home or office.
If you’ve admired my larger works, these smaller pieces carry the same energy, just in a more intimate scale. And don’t forget about the prints — they’re a beautifully affordable way to add color, sophistication, and joy to your space.
Use code: SMALL20 through October 31st to save 20%.

LATELY, I’VE BEEN THINKING…

“When art speaks to others, it’s because it’s made from truth. Our pain, our joy, our questions — it all becomes compost for the work. That’s where the resonance lives.”

Until next time,
