From Spaces to Canvases: The Art of Design & Creativity

09/25/2025, New York

How My Interior Design Career Has Shaped My Art

I’ve always believed that design is a universal language. Whether in fashion, interiors, or fine art, the same principles apply; proportion, balance, functionality, and innovation. These elements are what turn a simple space into something extraordinary.
After years in the fashion industry, moving from Manhattan to rural Pennsylvania opened a new chapter for me. For over 25 years, I immersed myself in interior design—a field that is endlessly layered. I designed cabinetry, landscapes, commercial spaces, window treatments, kitchens, baths, even furniture.
Everywhere you look, everything we touch—it all has a designer’s hand behind it. But the most powerful layer of any space? The art. It can dominate or whisper quietly, bringing mood, energy, and meaning to a room.

My years as a designer taught me not just how to create, but also how to show the work—how a collector, a designer, or an advisor experiences a piece and integrates it into a home or project. Now, focusing solely on painting feels like a return to my first love, but with a much wider lens. I understand how art lives in a space because I’ve spent a lifetime shaping those spaces. It’s a playground of possibility—and I’m just getting started

Art Workshop—Sept 27 (Wyomissing, PA)

In-person seats for September are now closed, but you can still join virtually—and there’s plenty of time to register for October 25 and November 22. These workshops are designed to help you create your own art without the noise of “rules”—broad ideas, simple prompts, and guidance that let you explore freely and find your voice.
What to expect:
  • A clear, step-by-step creative flow you can repeat at home
  • Concepts you can apply to any medium (no experience needed)
  • Encouragement to let go of preconceived notions of what “good art” is
Dates & formats
  • Sept 27 — Virtual access available (in-person closed)
  • Oct 25 & Nov 22 — In-person and virtual registration open
Virtual option
$80 per session or $200 for all three (save $40). Learn more & register here.
P.S. This is a beautiful way to create meaningful pieces for the holidays—or to simply give yourself a creative reset.

Thank you for being present here with me again, until next week!

LATELY, I’VE BEEN THINKING…

“Dropping our inhibitions around being creative is simply about returning to that childlike state of wonder and curiosity most adults have forgotten—or find intimidating. Through my workshops, I want to ease that pressure and make creativity feel free again.”

Until next time,
